Ron Shafer
Ron Shafer was raised and forged by the spirit of this rivertown. Inspired by a photo of his great-grandfather, Ron developed a deep respect for the trades early in life and immersed himself in Petaluma’s creative community from a young age. He earned a formal education at Santa Rosa Junior College and brings nearly two decades of experience in welding, sculpture, and metalwork to his practice.
Ron brings unexpected warmth and soul to steel, fusing craftsmanship with creativity in every piece. His work often explores the intersection of industry and imagination, grounded in the maker culture and creativity that define his hometown. He has collaborated on large-scale works that celebrate community, architecture, and art, including The Rocket Car with David Best, Fire Cathedral and Love Pods with Kevin Clark of Reared in Steel, Tribute to Dalí with Jack Champion, Farmer the Rigger with Zulu Hern, and Complexahedron with Kelly Davison. His art reflects the grit, charm, and offbeat beauty of the place—and the people—he calls home.
